Hello.
My name is Imogen Steele and I am 23 years old. I was born with cerebral palsy quadriplegia. At the age of seven, following a visit from my physio wherein she proceeded to list the activities I was prohibited from taking part in, both disheartened and defiant I proclaimed to my Mum ‘the thing is, you can’t stop a bee from buzzing’. This is a statement which came so naturally into my young mind but yet had an element of the profound. Indeed, it is a phrase which I have and will continue to live by. It reminds me to be my authentic self regardless of the obstacles in my path.

Currently I am embarking upon a post-university gap year after having graduated with a first-class degree last July. I enjoy baking, reading, television, films, exploring historical houses and of course writing! I am also an avid wheelchair rugby player and horse rider. I volunteer at the National Trust and participate in advocacy work, promoting the rights of disabled individuals.
Upon graduating university everyone tells you that the world is your oyster. Please join me as I face the somewhat daunting task of finding my pearl, my dream job and independence. Through this blog I intend to provide some interesting articles on various topics, easy and yummy recipes and offer some advice to those who find themselves in similar positions as I have been in, both as a disabled person and a recent graduate .
